Life Can’t Be So Bad in Mexico

Ordinarily I wouldn’t bother posting something like this, but with all the talk that we hear about Mexico being dirt poor and that’s why they are coming here–many illegally–I felt this needed some attention.
Fueled by the rising popularity of soft drinks and fast-food restaurants, Mexico has become the second-fattest nation in the world. Mexican health officials say it could surpass the U.S. as the most obese country within 10 years if trends continue.
More than 71 percent of Mexican women and 66 percent of Mexican men are overweight, according to the latest national surveys.
If people can afford to become obese on junk and fast food, and soft drinks, then the standard of living in Mexico can’t be too low.
Although I suppose many of the items might be purchased with money sent back from a worker here in the U.S.
